Vision
Humanity is at a crossroad. The immense challenges and complex questions that arise at this time of globalization are not only of an ecological, economic or socio-political nature ; they are, more fundamentally, of a spiritual nature.
In order to provide fruitful and sustainable responses, a change of consciousness and of lifestyle is necessary. This change implies an awakening and a revised sense of responsibility, a rediscovery of the human being and of the cosmos in their most inner and sacred dimensions, an in-depth integration between spiritual transformation and structural transformation.
The desire to change oneself through a spiritual quest or by taking steps for personal development is not sufficient, no more so than by wanting to change the world by participating in social movements or belonging to political parties. Certainly both are necessary, but they should be articulated through “diagonal” steps that, emanating from the heart of man, penetrate and unify all dimensions of the being (body, soul and spirit) and of society.
There is certainly a tension between the earth and the heavens, the material and the spiritual, the reflective and the practical, but they are all one. The Spirit must embody, manifest itself in the material - thought must lead to action. Re-enchantment passes through the transfiguration of the self and of the world.
Action
Everywhere in the world and in all fields of activity, men and women question, seek, long for a new quality of being, and invent new ways of living, thinking, consuming, producing and saving, manifesting more responsibility, solidarity and equity.
A foundation established under Swiss law and recognized as being in the interest of the public, Diagonale intends to participate in this vast undertaking by emphasizing the importance of spiritual roots and transformation. It seeks to contribute to the dynamic for the “re-enchantment of the world” and the emergence of new paradigms by recognizing and supporting, from North to South :
a process of research and of reflection - transdisciplinary and inter-traditional - on the vital issues of our times and alternative possibilities ;
projects and practical applications in the field, grounds for experimentation, resistance and change in different domains : agriculture, education, development ;
networking of initiatives and actors, working towards a similar goal, through encounters, dialogue, alliances and other partnerships.
Sponsors
Diagonale is supported by more than 50 sponsors that compose an international, inter-traditional and transdisciplinary committee.
